ShaTaura has been my doula for my past 2 births. She made sure to share with me exercises and stretches that were helpful to me having a smooth delivery. She provided information and support, and made sure to reiterate mot me how important it was to eliminate stress and keeping good eating habits. She was wonderful. Even after my births, she has continued to follow up with me, checking on my children, and doing random acts of kindness for them. She is truly amazing. I would highly recommend her.

As far as this pregnancy this time around, finding out about it was a bit of a shock to me, and in all honesty, I was ill-prepared to face it. Mainly because of where my mind was at the time, as I was looking forward I was to get back into a normal routine with my previous children. That positive test left me struggling with some not so marvelous thoughts, so when a friend recommended that I hire a doula, I thought it was the best way to get along with the coming baby. This is something I’ve never had, but known about, and was interested in working with, so the initial few times we first met, I really felt connected with her. She and I shared similar viewpoints, most of which I don’t hear too often, that was very great to hear! Putting together the birth plan me feel comfortable and more confident in myself, as I’ve witnessed some things happen to close friends in hospitals in the past, and ensuring I get a say in my care is imperative to me.

The thing I absolutely appreciate the most was at the time of delivery. She was able to assist in ways where my significant other was not, no fault to him, it’s just that that is her profession! She was able to walk with me, squats, chit chat and take my mind off of things with a laugh here or there. In all honesty, he got some much needed rest, because he just prior came out of a long, labor intensive job!

She didn’t let me give up on myself, either, because I honestly did at one point. That pain was too much, but soon, my baby was in my arms and I was so ecstatic!

Even during postpartum, when I needed someone to just hold him as I got caught up with laundry, and even cooking with my kids! She made my heart swell with fullness. This is a loving job, not for everyone, but she is one who fulfills this position. Thank you so much!
